Motivation…
Or lack there of? I suffer from the “but I’m so_____” syndrome. You know…”But I’m so <tired>” , “But I’m so <busy>”, “But I’m so <hungover>”. It’s a vicious never-ending cycle of excuses! I know what 99.9% of my problem is and that is no one is there to make me do it. I’ve always wanted to be an athlete, always been an athlete and always will be. But, with help from a few key people, I am who I am today. My athletic parents made me…obviously. In high school, my coaches made me the athlete I am today. In college my coach made me get up at 5am to head to a smelly weight room that the football team just destroyed so that I could pump some iron for volleyball. Now? I’m on my own. That’s where the trouble comes in. To help jump start myself, I’ve found the following items helpful:
-Join a weekly running club. Even if it’s only a 5k and even if they let you stuff your face with all-you-can-eat pasta and $2.50 beers afterward! DO IT!
-Have a running partner. Or group.
-Buy an ipod, legally download some running jams…and use it!
-Watch running movies (a few of my faves are):
-Read these tips, they help! Oh and look…I’ve already done #1!
